The Creation of Proud Annie Mystery Theatre
Braden McKinley, originally from Pennsylvania, is the sole owner of the Proud Annie Mystery Theatre. As a young boy he dreamed of growing up and being a western sheriff on horseback. He realized that dream when he created the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Patrol in California. An adamant supporter of animal rights, he spearheaded the effort to establish the injury or assault of any Police animal (canine & equine) in California as a felony crime.
Also an accomplished actor, he has been onstage for 20 years, performing in such theatrical classics as, The Fantasticks, To Kill a Mockingbird, Romantic Comedy, Of Mice and Men and more recently as General Starbuck in the critically acclaimed “Gunfighters, A chronicle of the Gulf War”
He plays a country veterinarian, Dr. John West in the long running popular children’s (ages 9-14 yrs.) TV program “Critter Gitters” ( www.crittergitters.com ) which still airs in re-runs and is syndicated world-wide.
He laughs seeing himself dubbed into Japanese.
In his law enforcement, U.S. Navy, US Coast Guard Reserve and Roman Catholic Deacon retirements, he is fulfilling his current dream of combining quality gourmet dinners and Theatre performances together. He has chosen Historic Jonesborough TN as his venue because of the people here, the beautiful historic home, and the prevalent patriotism for God, Family and Country among the people. He first noticed two US flags on each light pole displayed everyday, and the ten commandments in bronze on the courthouse wall.
“My first year here, I felt like Will Rogers ‘cause I hadn’t met a person I didn’t like.”
